2009 National Collegiate Team Match Games Final Results
Wichita State University used their great starts on day 1 and kept going on day 2 in the baker games with win both the men’s and women’s championships in the 2009 National Collegiate Team Match Games.
The Wichita State men used their baker game total of 4345 (20 baker games + 500 bonus pins) to keep their lead in the tournament and finish with a final score of 11,512. Lindenwood University (11,194) finished the tournament in second. Rounding out the top five was Newman University (10,868) in third, Saginaw Valley State University (10,687) in fourth, and Robert Morris University (10,644) in fifth.
The University of Maryland – Eastern Shore women made a big charge in the baker games, but UMES was not quite able to take over the lead from Wichita State. Wichita State kept their lead with a baker score of 3990 (20 baker games + 400 bonus pins) to finish with a final score of 10,895. UMES finished in second with a final score of 10,828 after having a baker score of 4238. The top five included Webber International University (10,781) in third, Pikeville College “A” (10,698) in fourth, and Pikeville College “B” (10,691) in fifth.

National Collegiate Team Match Games Day 1 Results
After day 1 of the National Collegiate Team Match Games, Wichita State University has taken the lead for both the men and women. Day 1 consisted of six team games on Friday. Day 2 takes place on Saturday and will consist of five 4-game blocks of baker games.
Wichita State men took the early lead with a first day score of 7161 (6261 + 900 bonus pins). Wichita State was led by Jake Peters (1st, 1375, +175, 229.17 Average) and Ronnie Sparks Jr. (2nd, 1296). Lindenwood University currently has teams in second and third. Their “black” team has a score of 6715 and their “gold” team has a score of 6453. Other top 5 bowlers include Wright State University‘s Jay Foote (1272), Saginaw Valley State University‘s Mike Snow (1248), and the University of Kansas‘ Matt Washford (1243).
Wichita State women hold the lead with a score of 6905 (6055 + 850 bonus pins). Wichita State was led by Daniela Alvarado (3rd, 1240) and Jazreel Tan (5th, 1227). The University of Maryland – Eastern Shore is currently in second with a score of 6590. UMES was led by Anggie Ramirez (1st, 1273, +73, 212.17 Average) and Maria Rodriguez (2nd, 1247). Pikeville College is currently in third (6476), led by Jennifer Wright (4th, 1230).

S.I. Elite Classic Results
Wichita State University took both the men’s and women’s titles in the S.I. Elite Classic this weekend. On the men’s side, the Shockers’ D team won with a final 9 game score of 9502 (+502, 1055/game, 211.16 Ind. Average), led by Josh Blanchard. McKendree University (9291) took second place, led by tournament leader JR Raymond (2046, +246, 227.33 Average). Lindenwood University took third place, led by Dan Sprink (1920). The top 5 individual bowlers included JR Raymond, Morehead State University’s Mike Kirian (1922), Dan Sprink, McKendree’s Willie Jubiter (1917), and Lindenwood’s Brett Cunningham (1907).
Wichita State University’s C team won on the women’s side with a 9 game score of 8970 (-30, 996.67/Game, 199.33 Ind. Average). Pikeville College (8462) finished in second place. Wichita State’s A team (8456) finished in third. Wichita State’s Jessica Baker led all bowlers with a score of 1846 (+46, 205.11 Average). Wichita State had 4 of the top 5 bowlers, including Jazreel Tan (1826), Sandra Gongora (1811), and Rocio Restrepo (1802). McKendree’s Brandi Branka also finished in the top 5 with a score of 1808.

Kegel Collegiate Classic Results
The 2009 Kegel Collegiate Classic featured 31 men’s teams and 23 women’s teams.
In the men’s tournament Robert Morris University (IL) defeated Wichita State University‘s ‘Barnes’ team with scores of 225 and 192 to Wichita State’s 209 and 167. In the semifinals Wichita State defeated Rochester Institute of Technology and Robert Morris defeated Wichita State’s ‘Rash’ team. Wichita State’s Josh Blanchard lead all bowlers with a score of 1297 (+97, 216.17 Average). Other All-Tournament Team members included Michael Snell (1290) from Nebraska-Lincoln, RIT’s Tyler Hermann (1282), Robert Morris’ Mikey Hill (1269), and JR Raymond (1244) from McKendree University.
In the women’s tournament McKendree University‘s #1 team used scores of 180 and 211 to defeat Wichita State University‘s ‘Black’ team’s 157 and 185 scores in the finals. McKendree defeated Robert Morris University (IL) in the semifinals while Wichita State defeated McKendree’s #2 team. Wichita State had four bowlers make the All-Tournament team. The top bowler was Rocio Restrepo with a score of 1234 (+34, 205.67 Average). Other top bowlers included Sandra Gongora (1222), Jazreel Tan (1220), Mariana Ayala (1210), and McKendree’s Brandi Branka (1184).

This upcoming weekend will feature the Boilermaker Classic, hosted by Purdue University, in Lafayette, Indiana and the Brunswick Southern Collegiate Classic in Marietta Georgia.
College Bowling Tournaments This Week
There are a few college bowling tournaments taking place this weekend. Last weekend featured the Central Florida Classic, Brickyard Classic, and Mid-States Championship. Webber International University (men) and the University of Central Florida (women) won in the Central Florida Classic. Vincennes University (men) and Robert Morris University (women) won in the Brickyard Classic. Wichita State University (men & women) won in the Mid-States Classic.
This weekend’s big tournament is the Orange & Black Classic taking place at Beaver-Vu Bowl in Beavercreek, Ohio. The Orange & Black Classic is hosted by Pikeville College. Last year’s champions were Lindenwood University (men) and Ball State University (women). The Pennsylvania Classic is taking place at Leisure Lanes in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Last year’s champions were William Paterson University (men) and Briarcliffe College (women). The first NCAA tournament is also taking place this weekend. The Bossier City Classic will take place in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Mid-States Championship Final Results
Wichita State University‘s “Lambert” team finished first on the men’s side of the 2009 Mid-States Championship with a score of 13,441. Newman University‘s “Blue” team (12,772) finished second, while Wichita State’s “Waliczek” team (12,592) finished 3rd. In the women’s tournament, Wichita State University fielded three of the top four teams. Wichita’s State’s “Guerrero” team won the tournament with a score of 12,685. Wichita State’s “Lagrange” team (11,706) finished in second and their “Sandham” team (10,928) finished in fourth. West Texas A&M University finished third in the tournament with a score of 11,294. Mid-States Championship Day 1 Women’s Results

Mid-States Championship Day 1 Men’s Results
After day one of the two day Mid-States Championship, Wichita State University is leading the men with a score of 7110. Newman University is in second with a score of 6839 and Kansas University is third with 6935. The full results can be found on the CollegeBowling.com forums.
College Bowling This Weekend
There are four college bowling tournaments taking place this weekend. Last weekend was a busy weekend, with the 39th Annual Midwest Collegiate Championshps and the SWIBC Tournament #1 taking place. Robert Morris University (men) and the University of Central Florida (women) won in the Midwest Collegiate Championships. The University of North Texas won in SWIBC 1.
This is the second of back to back big weekends in the college bowling world. The 15th Annual Brickyard Classic will take place in Indianapolis, IN. Calumet College of St. Joseph (men) and Wright State University (women) are the defending champions. The Mid-States Championship will take place in Wichita, KS. Last year’s champion was Wichita State University in both the men’s and women’s tournaments. In Wilmington, DE is the Blue Hen Open. North Carolina State University won this event last year. The Central Florida Classic will take place in Orlando, FL. The University of Central Florida won last year for both the men and the women.
