Wichita State Sweeps Las Vegas Invitational
The Wichita State University bowling teams swept the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational. The Shocker men and women both won the event. Webber International finished second in both the men’s and the women’s divisions.
The men’s side of the tournament was led by WSU’s Geoffrey Young with a 9-game total of 2092. Pikeville’s Lucas Hohnstein finished in second with 2013 and Weber State’s Kasey Kolczak finished third with 1965.
Over on the women’s side, Kim Yioulos from Pikeville College led with a 9-game score of 1932. Midland’s Katie Maher finished second with 1929 and WSU’s Jazreel Tan finished third with 1926.
Morehead State Men, Lindenwood Women Win Southern Classic

Morehead State men, Lindenwood women claim Southern Collegiate Classic titles
MARIETTA, Ga. - The Morehead State men and Lindenwood women took the titles at the Brunswick Southern Collegiate Classic in an event broadcast live on BOWL.com.
Morehead State topped the 26-team men’s field with 11,148, while Webber International finished second with 10,816. Lindenwood’s men’s team was third with 10,694.
In the women’s division, Lindenwood totaled 10,650 to finished on top in the 14-team women’s division. Pikeville finished second with 10,432, while Webber International was third with 10,152.
Javier Diaz of Webber International led the men’s individual standings with a six-game total of 1,335. Tim Mirowsky of South Florida was second with 1,309, while Chris Spoo of Florida Atlantic was third with 1,287.
Lindenwood’s Jillian McBride was the high finisher in the women’s individual standings with 1,300. Katie Thornton of Webber International was second with 1,219, while Kaitlin Quinn of Bellarmine was third with 1,192.

2010 USBC Intercollegiate Team Sectionals Final Results – 64 Games
The 2010 Intercollegiate Team Sectionals tournaments are finishing up today, with the second set of 32 baker games. Teams bowled a total of 64 baker games across 2 days. The top four teams from each sectional will advance to the 2010 Intercollegiate Team Championships in El Paso, Texas.
In Allentown, Pennsylvania, Webber International University won for the men with a final score of 12914 (+114, 201.78 Average). William Paterson University finished in second with 12662. Other teams making the cut are Rochester Institute of Technology (12653) and Hudson Valley Community College (12591). Pikeville College led the women with a score of 12599 (-201, 196.86 Average). Webber International University finished in second with 12417. Other teams making the cut included Erie Community College (11396) and Briarcliffe College (11324).
Saginaw Valley State University led the men in Chattanooga, Tennessee with 13356 (+556, 208.69 Average). Lindenwood University finished second with 13316. Others making the cut were the University of Central Florida (12806) and Purdue University (12804). The University of Maryland – Eastern Shore led the women at 12842 (+42, 200.66 Average). The University of Central Florida finished in second with 12805. Other teams making the cut were Lindenwood University (12269) and Florida State University (11736).
The Peoria, Illinois men’s sectional was led by Wichita State University with a score of 13072 (+272, 204.25 Average). McKendree University finished second at 12739. Other teams making the cut included Newman University (12734) and Calumet College (12718). Wichita State also led the women with a score of 12350 (-450, 192.97 Average). McKendree University finished second with 12281. Wright State University (11676) and the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater (11600) also made the cut.
Robert Morris University men led the Las Vegas sectional with a score of 13424 (+624, 209.75 Average). California State University – Fresno finished in second at 13033. Arizona State University (12933) and the University of Nebraska – Lincoln (12772) also made the cut. California State University – Fresno led the women with 12294 (-506, 192.09 Average). Robert Morris University finished in second with 12050. St. Ambrose University (11846) and West Texas A&M (11795) also made the cut.
These top 32 teams (16 men, 16 women) advance to the 2010 USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships. This event will take place on April 14-17, 2010 in El Paso, Texas.
Hoosier Classic Final Results
This weekend college bowlers participated in the final tier 1 tournament of the season. The Backhaul Direct Hoosier Classic took place in Indianapolis, IN. This is the last chance for college teams to earn power points to make it into the USBC Collegiate Sectionals tournaments.
Webber International University took home the title in the men’s division and the University of Central Florida took home to women’s title. Andro Simounet of Webber led the men with a final 9 game score of 2064 (+264, 229.3 Average). Jenn Boisselle from UCF led the women with a final 9 game score of 1943 (+143, 215.9 Average).
Webber took out McKendree University while Robert Morris University beat Fresno State in the semifinals. Webber beat RMU in the finals, 3 games to 0. Over on the women’s side UCF beat Wichita State University while Webber took out Pikeville College. UCF beat Webber in the finals, 3 games to 1.
Other All-Tournament team members included John Szczerbinski (2054, Wichita State), Michael Fujita (2048, UC Davis), Marcelo Suartz (2036, Webber), and Josh Blanchard (2029, Wichita). The women’s All-Tournament team members included Kaidee Sutphin (1899, UCF), Nicole Burke (1887, Pikeville), Josie Earnest ( 1847, Vanderbilt), and Jessica Earnest (1800, Vanderbilt)

2009 ISYL Leatherneck Classic Results
Lindenwood University took home the men’s title in the 2009 ISYL Leatherneck Classic. Lindenwood’s B team won the tournament with a final score of 9751 (6464 Team + 3287 Baker), while their A team finished in sixth place. Lindenwood B was led by Kimani Smith (1st, 1363, +163, 227.17 Average). Wichita State University finished the tournament in second with a score of 9674 and Newman University finished in third with a score of 9432. Other All-Tournament Team members included Newman University’s Derek Hartnell (2nd, 1343), Lindenwood A’s Steve Miller (3rd, 1326), Wisconsin – Whitewater‘s Kyle VanderLoop (4th, 1321), and Mikey Hill (5th, 1310) from Robert Morris University. In other notes, Lindenwood’s Zach Hunter had a 300 game in the tournament.
Webber International University continued their strong season with a first place finish with a score of 8609. Wichita State University led the tournament with a score of 8709 (5810 Team + 2199 Baker), but it was WIU who ended up winning it all. Wichita State was led by Jessica Baker (1st, 1237, +37, 206.17 Average). Robert Morris University finished in third with a score of 8555. RMU was led by Samantha Kelly’s score of 1236 (2nd, +36, 206 Average). Other All-Tournament Team members included St. Ambrose University‘s Kelly Granzow (3rd, 1195), Lindenwood University’s Jillian McBride (4th, 1185), and Newman University‘s Desiree Lee (5th, 1172).

2009 National Collegiate Team Match Games Final Results
Wichita State University used their great starts on day 1 and kept going on day 2 in the baker games with win both the men’s and women’s championships in the 2009 National Collegiate Team Match Games.
The Wichita State men used their baker game total of 4345 (20 baker games + 500 bonus pins) to keep their lead in the tournament and finish with a final score of 11,512. Lindenwood University (11,194) finished the tournament in second. Rounding out the top five was Newman University (10,868) in third, Saginaw Valley State University (10,687) in fourth, and Robert Morris University (10,644) in fifth.
The University of Maryland – Eastern Shore women made a big charge in the baker games, but UMES was not quite able to take over the lead from Wichita State. Wichita State kept their lead with a baker score of 3990 (20 baker games + 400 bonus pins) to finish with a final score of 10,895. UMES finished in second with a final score of 10,828 after having a baker score of 4238. The top five included Webber International University (10,781) in third, Pikeville College “A” (10,698) in fourth, and Pikeville College “B” (10,691) in fifth.

College Bowling Tournaments This Week
There are a few college bowling tournaments taking place this weekend. Last weekend featured the Central Florida Classic, Brickyard Classic, and Mid-States Championship. Webber International University (men) and the University of Central Florida (women) won in the Central Florida Classic. Vincennes University (men) and Robert Morris University (women) won in the Brickyard Classic. Wichita State University (men & women) won in the Mid-States Classic.
This weekend’s big tournament is the Orange & Black Classic taking place at Beaver-Vu Bowl in Beavercreek, Ohio. The Orange & Black Classic is hosted by Pikeville College. Last year’s champions were Lindenwood University (men) and Ball State University (women). The Pennsylvania Classic is taking place at Leisure Lanes in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Last year’s champions were William Paterson University (men) and Briarcliffe College (women). The first NCAA tournament is also taking place this weekend. The Bossier City Classic will take place in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Central Florida Classic Results
The Central Florida Classic took place this past weekend at Boardwalk Bowl in Orlando, Florida. They had 16 men’s teams and 5 women’s teams compete from 9 different schools from all over Florida.
Webber International University‘s “Gold” team won on the men’s side. The University of Central Florida‘s “Gold” team finished in second. Webber International’s “Green” team finished in third and Santa Fe College finished in fourth. See the full results on the CollegeBowling.com forums.

39th Annual Midwest Collegiate Championships Final Results
Day 2 of the 39th Annual Midwest Collegiate Championships looked a lot like day 1 did. Robert Morris University (IL) and University of Central Florida finished on top.
Robert Morris University (IL) won on the men’s side with a score of 11,559. Lindenwood University fell one pin short at 11,558, and Saginaw Valley State University finished 3rd with a score of 11,487. Robert Morris was led by Mikey Hill. Lindenwood and SVSU were led by Kimani Smith and Toby Sambueno. Leading the All-Tournament Team was Derek Hartnell from Newman University with a score of 2152 (239 Average). Other memebers of the All-Tournament Team included Robert Morris’ Mikey Hill (2114), Cal-State Fresno’s Greg Geering (1979), Viterbo University’s Greg Pizl (1966), and Central Florida’s Joe May (1955).
Central Florida won on the Women’s side with a score of 10,723. Webber International University took 2nd with a score of 10,534, and Lindenwood University took 3rd with a score of 10,234. Central Florida was led by Jenn Boisselle. Webber International and Lindenwood were led by Ashly Galante and Laura Fonnegra. Jenn Boisselle led the All-Tournament Team with a score of 1922 (213 Average). The rest of the All-Tournament Team consisted of Webber International’s Ashly Galante (1849), Wright State University’s Heidi Sanders (1837), Grand Valley State University’s Samantha Johnson (1813), and Webber International’s Jessica Santiago (1796).

39th Annual Midwest Collegiate Day 1 Results
Today marked the kickoff of the first Tier 1 college tournament of the 2009 – 2010 season. Day 1 of the 39th Annual Midwest Collegiate Championships took place today.
Robert Morris University (IL) took the lead for the men after 6 games with a score of 6394 (+394, 1065 Team Average, 213 Individual Average). Lindenwood University (6360) and Saginaw Valley State University (6357) are in second and third. Robert Morris finished 10th in this event last year, while SVSU was #2 and Lindenwood won the tournament.
The University of Central Florida took the 6 game lead on the women’s side with a score of 5998 (-2, 999 Team Average, 199 Individual Average). Webber International University (5739) and Bellarmine University (5633) are currently in second and third. Central Florida is the defending champion of this tournament. Webber International did not attend last year; Bellarmine finished 10th in this event in 2008.
