D’Entremont, Traber, O’Sullivan Win PBA Regional Events
Three PBA Regional events took place this weekend. The PBA East Region Mt. Greylock Open was held in North Adams, Massachusetts. The PBA Midwest Region Stars & Strikes Open took place at Scott AFB, Illinois. The PBA South Region Fran Bohlman Milton, Fl Open was held in Milton, Florida.
Brian LeClair led qualifying in the East Region event with 1980 (+380, 247.5 Average). LeClair lost in the first round of matchplay to eventual runner-up Jeff Zaffino. Dave D’Entremont beat Zaffino in the finals to win this event.
Richard Kidd led qualifying in the Midwest Region event with a score of 1867 (+267, 233.38 Average). Jason Wojnar took over the lead in the semifinal qualifying round with a total 13-game score of 3015 (+415, 231.92 Average). Wojnar and Kidd were both eliminated in the first round of match play. David Traber and John Lee advanced to the finals of this event. Traber won the match 235-156 to win this event.
Qualifying of the South Region event was led by Brandon Baker with a score of 1901 (+301, 237.63 Average). Peter Dohan Jr. took over the lead in the semifinal round of qualifying with a 13-game score of 3063 (+463, 235.62 Average). David O’Sullivan and Sam Zurich beat all other bowlers in match play to advance to the finals. O’Sullivan won the match 268-203 to win this event.



Kasimakis, Frankos Win Regionals Over the Weekend
Two PBA regional tournaments took place last weekend. The PBA Central/Midwest Region Eastown Recreation Center Open took place in Jasper, Indiana. The PBA West Region Jackson Rancheria Classic took place in Sutter Creek, California.
The PBA Central/Midwest Region Eastown Recreation Center Open was bowled on the PBA Cheetah pattern. This event had 86 bowlers and a $2400 first prize. It took a cut score of 1808 (+208, 226 Average) to make the top 16 for matchplay. Jason Sterner led qualifying with a score of 2019 (+419, 252.37 Average). Rudy Kasimakis ran over the field in matchplay, finishing with a 7-1 record, defeating David Traber in the finals. Traber finished in second, with Tim Paul, Jr. and Billy Oatman in third and fourth.
The PBA West Region Jackson Rancheria Classic was also bowled on the PBA Cheetah pattern. This event had 96 bowlers and a first prize of $2500. The top 32 bowlers advanced to matchplay with a cut score of 1714 (+114, 214.25 Average). Jeff Frankos led qualifying with a score of 2001 (+401, 250.125 Average). Frankos went undefeated in match play, finishing with a 7-0 record. Wayne Garber finished in second behind Frankos. Craig Donaldson and William K. Wilson finished in third and fourth.
Traber, Yokobosky, Shewmake, Norton Win Regionals Over Weekend
David Traber won the PBA Central Region Suburban Lanes Open this weekend. He defeated high qualifier Jeffrey Roche, Eugene McCune and Brian Kretzer in that order to win the tournament. Traber had an average of 235.07 and a perfect 7-0 record on his way to the championship. Traber was formerly an exempt player, who won his exemption in the 2004 PBA Tour Trials. He has 4 career PBA Tour titles.
Ken Yokobosky won the PBA East Region Leisure Lanes Open. Yokobosky defeated high qualifier Sam Maccarone and Michael Fagan on his way to the championship. Yokobosky posted a 202.24 average and a 7-2 record to win the tournament. Yokobosky is a USBC Gold Coach and Team USA Assistant Coach.
Randy Shewmake won the PBA Southwest Region Young & Pratt Austin Open. Shewmake was the high qualifier with a 227.23 Average and a record of 7-2 for the tournament. He defeated Ryan Boroff and Chris Hibbitts II to win the title.
Scott Norton won the PBA West Silver Nugget Turbo 2-1 Open this weekend. Norton, posted a 229.67 average and a 12-4 record for the tournament. Mike DeVaney and Noel Vazquez were the runners-up for the tournament. Norton was named College Bowler of the Year while bowling at Cal State-Fullerton in 2001.
The Suburban Lanes Open and the Young & Pratt Austin Open were both bowled on the PBA Cheetah pattern. The Leisure Lanes Open was bowled on the PBA Shark pattern. The Silver Nugget Turbo 2-1 Open was bowled on the PBA Scorpion pattern.
