TV Finals Set for PBA Don Johnson Eliminator
The TV finals field has been set for the PBA Etonic Don Johnson Eliminator. The final four players advancing are Osku Palermaa, Wes Malott, Brian Kretzer, and Mike Scroggins. Sean Rash had led the tournament throughout qualifying, but was eliminated in the group led by Palermaa. This event is being held on the PBA Chameleon pattern.
The scoring pace for this event has been fairly high, with most bowlers averaging over 200 for the week. The 14-game cut score to the top 30 bowlers was 3034 (+234, 216.71 Average). The 28-game cut to the top 16 was 6162 (+562, 220.07 Average). Once bowlers reached the round of 16, they were put into groups of four. In each round, they bowled a 3-game series and eliminated the lowest bowler in each group. This eliminated four bowlers in each round, until we now reach the final four.
The TV finals will have all four bowlers facing off in the first game. Three games will be bowled, with one bowler being eliminated after each game. The TV finals will air live on ESPN at 12:30 PM Eastern Time on Sunday, March 7, 2010.




LaCaze and Nation win in PBA Earl Anthony Memorial
Former Collegiate All-American from Saginaw Valley State University Anthony LaCaze has won his first PBA title in the PBA Earl Anthony Memorial. LaCaze defeated Mike Wolfe in the semifinals, 190-158, to advance to the finals. Mike Machuga defeated Sean Rash, 188-183, to go on and face LaCaze in the finals. Tony LaCaze defeated Machuga, 214-206, to win the tournament. This is LaCaze’s first title, which gives him exempt status for the next season. Former All-American from the University of Central Florida and Team USA member Stefanie Nation took on current Team USA member Lynda Barnes in the finals of the women’s event. Nation won the match, 201-181, to win the tournament. This is Stefanie Nation’s second career PBA Women’s title.
Congratulations to both of the champions! It is good to see former collegiate bowlers excelling on the PBA Tour.

Finals are set for PBA Earl Anthony Memorial
The round of 8 has concluded and the TV finals are set for the 2010 PBA Earl Anthony Memorial. The finals will be filled with former collegiate standouts and All-Americans. Former University of Nebraska All-American Mike Machuga will be bowling against former Wichita State University All-American and Team USA member Sean Rash. On the other side of the semifinals, Mike Wolfe will face off against former Saginaw Valley State University All-American Anthony LaCaze. Over on the women’s side, former San Jose State University bowler Lynda Barnes will be bowling against former Central Florida University All-American and Team USA member Stefanie Nation.
The TV finals will be aired live at 1:00 PM Eastern Time tomorrow (Sunday, January 17) on ESPN.
Tim Mack Wins Korea Cup
The 2009 Korea Cup featured five great international bowlers in the TV finals. The five finalists were Tim Mack, Wes Malott, Sean Rash, Kim Yoon Hoo, and Kim Yung Gwan. Kim Yung Hoo defeated Kim Yung Gwan, Sean Rash, and Wes Malott on his way to the finals. Tim Mack was too much for Kim to handle, as Mack won the match and the title, 237-232.

Tim Mack Takes Over Lead in Korea Cup
After round robin matchplay Tim Mack has taken over the lead in the 2009 Korea Cup. Mack finished with a 3 pin lead over fellow exempt PBA bowler Wes Malott. Other finalists are Sean Rash, Kim Yoon Ho, and Kim Young Kwan. Jung Tae Hwa had a 300 game in matchplay, but fell 51 pins short of making the cut. The five finalists will bowl the TV finals.

Wes Malott Leads Korea Cup
There’s not much news right now in the U.S. bowling world, but in the current PBA break, bowlers have time to travel overseas for international events. Wes Malott leads the 2009 Korea Cup field after 24 games with a score of 5807 (+1007, 242 Average). Tim Mack is currently in 2nd with a score of 5740 (+940, 239.2 Average). The field has been cut to the top 12 for round robin matchplay. Also making the cut to matchplay are exempt PBA bowlers Sean Rash and Pete Weber. After round robin matchplay, the field will be cut to the top 4 for the TV finals.

Mike DeVaney Wins Scorpion Championship
In the finals, Mike DeVaney defeated Jason Belmonte, 189-170, to win the PBA Scorpion Championship. On the way to the finals, DeVaney beat Sean Rash, 182-162. Belmonte defeated Tom Smallwood, 222-175.
This is DeVaney’s first PBA title of the season and second of his career.

Bill O’Neill Wins Chameleon Championship
In the semifinals, Bill O’Neill defeated Amleto Monacelli, 170-142. Ronnie Russell beat Sean Rash, 172-170. In the finals, O’Neill defeated Russell, 205-192.
This is the first career PBA title for the 3 time Collegiate Player of the Year Bill O’Neill, who had a very successful college career at Saginaw Valley State University.

PBA Scorpion Championship Update
The TV finals field is set for the PBA Scorpion Championship. For the men, the four finalists are Tom Smallwood, Mike DeVaney, Jason Belmonte, and Sean Rash. For the women, the two finalists are Liz Johnson and Shannon Pluhowsky.
This tournament is Smallwood’s first TV finals appearance, coming after winning his exemption in the tour trials back in May.

PBA Chameleon Championship Final four
The PBA Chameleon Championship Round of 4 is set. The four finalists are Amleto Monacelli, Sean Rash, Ronnie Russell, and Bill O’Neill, who had a 300 game in his match against Walter Ray Williams, Jr. The semifinals will take place on Sunday, September 6.
