USBC Junior Gold Final Results
The USBC Junior Gold Championships took place this past week. The boys championship came down to the final match between Marshall Kent and Matt Gasn. Kent won the match to win the championship with a final score of 10018 (46 games + 200 bonus pins, 213.43 Average). Gasn finished in second with a final 46 game score of 9996. Chris Via (9825) and Jacob Kent (9768) also finished in the top four to qualify for Junior Team USA.
Brittni Hamilton led the tournament for the girls with a final score of 9800 (46 games + 220 bonus pins, 208.26 Average). Addileen Pointer finished in second with a 46 game score of 9553. Kristie Petravich (9461) and Kaitlin Quinn (9459) rounded out the top four bowlers to qualify for Junior Team USA.
The National Selection Committee also chose two boys and two girls from the field to add to the junior team for this upcoming season. The committee chose Andrew Koff, who tied for the 4th spot, but lost in a rolloff, and Kyle King to join the boys. They chose Danielle McEwan and Liz Seibel to join the girls. There are still four more roster spots open to bowlers in the team USA trials.
USBC Junior Gold Qualifying Results
The USBC Junior Gold Championships are taking place this week. The first three rounds of qualifying concluded on Wednesday, July 14, 2010. The difficult patterns used for this tournament have kept scores fairly low. There are three oil patterns being used this year. The cut score for the top 150 boys was 3488 (18 games, 193.78 Average). The boys leader for qualifying is Jacob Kent from Newark, NY with a score of 3926 (218.11 Average).
The top 78 girls cut score was 3316 (18 games, 184.22 Average). The leader for the girls at the end of qualifying is Addileen Pointer from Highland, MI with 3967 (220.39 Average).
The semifinals round is underway today, with twelve more games in the semifinals. The cut to the top 16 will then be made before matchplay begins on Friday, July 16.
