Wichita State Sweeps Las Vegas Invitational

The Wichita State University bowling teams swept the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational. The Shocker men and women both won the event. Webber International finished second in both the men’s and the women’s divisions.

The men’s side of the tournament was led by WSU’s Geoffrey Young with a 9-game total of 2092. Pikeville’s Lucas Hohnstein finished in second with 2013 and Weber State’s Kasey Kolczak finished third with 1965.

Over on the women’s side, Kim Yioulos from Pikeville College led with a 9-game score of 1932. Midland’s Katie Maher finished second with 1929 and WSU’s Jazreel Tan finished third with 1926.

2011 Raider Classic Results

DAYTON, Ohio - The Notre Dame-Ohio men and Pikeville women came out on top at the Raider Classic. Notre-Dame Ohio defeated Urbana, 461-359, while Pikeville took down Wright State, 422-384, in the title matches.

Urbana led the men’s qualifying with 9,235 and was followed by Morehead State (9,051), Notre Dame-Ohio (8,904) and Martin Methodist (8,877).

Zach Wilkins of Urbana dominated the men’s individual standings with a five-game total of 1,303, which included a 300 game. Jay Foote of Wright State was second with 1,131, while Urbana’s Chris Walden was third with 1,076.

In the women’s qualifying, Pikeville led the way with 8,361, while Wright State was second with 8,254. Adrian was third with 8,176, while Martin Methodist was fourth at 8,172.

Kristin Abbott of Wright State was the high women’s individual with 1,018, while Kirstie Hegedus of Notre Dame-Ohio was second with 1,008. Adrian’s Kristen Marcis was third with 1,004.

Morehead State men, Lindenwood women claim Southern Collegiate Classic titles
MARIETTA, Ga. - 
The Morehead State men and Lindenwood women took the titles at the Brunswick Southern Collegiate Classic in an event broadcast live on BOWL.com.

Morehead State topped the 26-team men’s field with 11,148, while Webber International finished second with 10,816. Lindenwood’s men’s team was third with 10,694.

In the women’s division, Lindenwood totaled 10,650 to finished on top in the 14-team women’s division. Pikeville finished second with 10,432, while Webber International was third with 10,152.

Javier Diaz of Webber International led the men’s individual standings with a six-game total of 1,335. Tim Mirowsky of South Florida was second with 1,309, while Chris Spoo of Florida Atlantic was third with 1,287.

Lindenwood’s Jillian McBride was the high finisher in the women’s individual standings with 1,300. Katie Thornton of Webber International was second with 1,219, while Kaitlin Quinn of Bellarmine was third with 1,192.

2010 USBC Intercollegiate Team Sectionals Final Results – 64 Games

The 2010 Intercollegiate Team Sectionals tournaments are finishing up today, with the second set of 32 baker games.  Teams bowled a total of 64 baker games across 2 days.  The top four teams from each sectional will advance to the 2010 Intercollegiate Team Championships in El Paso, Texas.

In Allentown, Pennsylvania, Webber International University won for the men with a final score of 12914 (+114, 201.78 Average).  William Paterson University finished in second with 12662.  Other teams making the cut are Rochester Institute of Technology (12653) and Hudson Valley Community College (12591).  Pikeville College led the women with a score of 12599 (-201, 196.86 Average).  Webber International University finished in second with 12417.  Other teams making the cut included Erie Community College (11396) and Briarcliffe College (11324).

Saginaw Valley State University led the men in Chattanooga, Tennessee with 13356 (+556, 208.69 Average).  Lindenwood University finished second with 13316.  Others making the cut were the University of Central Florida (12806) and Purdue University (12804).  The University of Maryland – Eastern Shore led the women at 12842 (+42, 200.66 Average).  The University of Central Florida finished in second with 12805.  Other teams making the cut were Lindenwood University (12269) and Florida State University (11736).

The Peoria, Illinois men’s sectional was led by Wichita State University with a score of 13072 (+272, 204.25 Average).  McKendree University finished second at 12739.  Other teams making the cut included Newman University (12734) and Calumet College (12718).  Wichita State also led the women with a score of 12350 (-450, 192.97 Average).  McKendree University finished second with 12281.  Wright State University (11676) and the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater (11600) also made the cut.

Robert Morris University men led the Las Vegas sectional with a score of 13424 (+624, 209.75 Average).  California State University – Fresno finished in second at 13033.  Arizona State University (12933) and the University of Nebraska – Lincoln (12772) also made the cut.  California State University – Fresno led the women with 12294 (-506, 192.09 Average).  Robert Morris University finished in second with 12050.  St. Ambrose University (11846) and West Texas A&M (11795) also made the cut.

These top 32 teams (16 men, 16 women) advance to the 2010 USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships.  This event will take place on April 14-17, 2010 in El Paso, Texas.

We’ve reached the halfway point of the 2010 USBC Intercollegiate Team Sectionals tournaments.  Here are the results after 32 games.

North Carolina State University took sole possession of the lead in Chattanooga, Tennessee by finishing with a score of 6626 (+226, 207.06 Average).  The cut score is at 6498 at the end of day 1.  The University of Central Florida took over the women’s lead by finishing with a score of 6481 (+81, 202.53 Average).  The cut score is at 5812 after day 1.

In Peoria, Illinois, Wichita State University took over the men’s lead with a score of 6644 (+244, 206.59 Average).  The current cut score is 6417.  The Wichita State University women are also in the lead, with a score of 6373 (-27, 199.16).  The cut score is at 5887 after 32 games.

Rochester Institute of Technology remains in the lead in Allentown, Pennsylvania with 6393 (-7, 199.78 Average).  The current cut score is 6293.  Pikeville College is still leading the women with a score of 6325 (-75, 199.22 Average).  The cut score is at 5649 after 32 games.

The University of Wisconsin – Whitewater is still in the lead out in Las Vegas, Nevada with a score of 6546 (+146, 204.56 Average).  The current cut score is 6425 after day 1.  California State University – Fresno is leading the women with 6359 (-41, 198.72 Average).  The cut score after 32 games is at 5976.

At the halfway point of day 1 of the 2010 Intercollegiate Team Sectionals the races are still pretty close.  After 16 of 64 total baker games, most teams are still in the hunt.

In Allentown, Pennsylvania, Rochester Institute of Technology is leading the men with a score of 3234 (+34, 202.13 Average).  The current cut score is 3136.  Pikeville College is leading with women with a score of 3142 (-58, 196.38 Average).  The current cut score is 2810.

In Chattanooga, Tennessee, Lindenwood University and North Carolina State University are tied for the lead with 3315 (+115, 207.19 Average).  The current cut score is 3201.  The University of Maryland – Eastern Shore is leading the women with 3274 (+74, 204.63 Average).  The current cut score is 2924.

Vincennes University is leading the men in Peoria, Illinois with a score of 3378 (+178, 211.13 Average).  The current cut score is 3327.  Wichita State University is leading the women with 3276 (+76, 204.75 Average).  The cut score is currently at 2995.

Out in Las Vegas, Nevada, The University of Wisconsin – Whitewater is leading the men with a score of 3255 (+55, 203.44 Average).  The cut score is currently at 3233.  California State University – Fresno is leading the women with a score of 3055 (-145, 190.94 Average).  The current cut score is at 2996.

The two Eastern Time Zone Sectionals have finished up for the day.  I will work on posting those results right now and have them available as soon as possible.  I will update the results as they become available.

Hoosier Classic Final Results

This weekend college bowlers participated in the final tier 1 tournament of the season.  The Backhaul Direct Hoosier Classic took place in Indianapolis, IN.  This is the last chance for college teams to earn power points to make it into the USBC Collegiate Sectionals tournaments.

Webber International University took home the title in the men’s division and the University of Central Florida took home to women’s title.  Andro Simounet of Webber led the men with a final 9 game score of 2064 (+264, 229.3 Average).  Jenn Boisselle from UCF led the women with a final 9 game score of 1943 (+143, 215.9 Average).

Webber took out McKendree University while Robert Morris University beat Fresno State in the semifinals.  Webber beat RMU in the finals, 3 games to 0.  Over on the women’s side UCF beat Wichita State University while Webber took out Pikeville College.  UCF beat Webber in the finals, 3 games to 1.

Other All-Tournament team members included John Szczerbinski (2054, Wichita State), Michael Fujita (2048, UC Davis), Marcelo Suartz (2036, Webber), and Josh Blanchard (2029, Wichita).  The women’s All-Tournament team members included Kaidee Sutphin (1899, UCF), Nicole Burke (1887, Pikeville), Josie Earnest ( 1847, Vanderbilt), and Jessica Earnest (1800, Vanderbilt)

2009 National Collegiate Team Match Games Final Results

Wichita State University used their great starts on day 1 and kept going on day 2 in the baker games with win both the men’s and women’s championships in the 2009 National Collegiate Team Match Games.

The Wichita State men used their baker game total of 4345 (20 baker games + 500 bonus pins) to keep their lead in the tournament and finish with a final score of 11,512.  Lindenwood University (11,194) finished the tournament in second.  Rounding out the top five was Newman University (10,868) in third, Saginaw Valley State University (10,687) in fourth, and Robert Morris University (10,644) in fifth.

The University of Maryland – Eastern Shore women made a big charge in the baker games, but UMES was not quite able to take over the lead from Wichita State.  Wichita State kept their lead with a baker score of 3990 (20 baker games + 400 bonus pins) to finish with a final score of 10,895.  UMES finished in second with a final score of 10,828 after having a baker score of 4238.  The top five included Webber International University (10,781) in third, Pikeville College “A” (10,698) in fourth, and Pikeville College “B” (10,691) in fifth.

National Collegiate Team Match Games Day 1 Results

After day 1 of the National Collegiate Team Match Games, Wichita State University has taken the lead for both the men and women.  Day 1 consisted of six team games on Friday.  Day 2 takes place on Saturday and will consist of five 4-game blocks of baker games.

Wichita State men took the early lead with a first day score of 7161 (6261 + 900 bonus pins).  Wichita State was led by Jake Peters (1st, 1375, +175, 229.17 Average) and Ronnie Sparks Jr. (2nd, 1296).  Lindenwood University currently has teams in second and third.  Their “black” team has a score of 6715 and their “gold” team has a score of 6453.  Other top 5 bowlers include Wright State University‘s Jay Foote (1272), Saginaw Valley State University‘s Mike Snow (1248), and the University of Kansas‘ Matt Washford (1243).

Wichita State women hold the lead with a score of 6905 (6055 + 850 bonus pins).  Wichita State was led by Daniela Alvarado (3rd, 1240) and Jazreel Tan (5th, 1227).  The University of Maryland – Eastern Shore is currently in second with a score of 6590.  UMES was led by Anggie Ramirez (1st, 1273, +73, 212.17 Average) and Maria Rodriguez (2nd, 1247).  Pikeville College is currently in third (6476), led by Jennifer Wright (4th, 1230).

Wichita State University took both the men’s and women’s titles in the S.I. Elite Classic this weekend.  On the men’s side, the Shockers’ D team won with a final 9 game score of 9502 (+502, 1055/game, 211.16 Ind. Average), led by Josh Blanchard.  McKendree University (9291) took second place, led by tournament leader JR Raymond (2046, +246, 227.33 Average).  Lindenwood University took third place, led by Dan Sprink (1920).  The top 5 individual bowlers included JR Raymond, Morehead State University’s Mike Kirian (1922), Dan Sprink, McKendree’s Willie Jubiter (1917), and Lindenwood’s Brett Cunningham (1907).

Wichita State University’s C team won on the women’s side with a 9 game score of 8970 (-30, 996.67/Game, 199.33 Ind. Average).  Pikeville College (8462) finished in second place.  Wichita State’s A team (8456) finished in third.  Wichita State’s Jessica Baker led all bowlers with a score of 1846 (+46, 205.11 Average).  Wichita State had 4 of the top 5 bowlers, including Jazreel Tan (1826), Sandra Gongora (1811), and Rocio Restrepo (1802).  McKendree’s Brandi Branka also finished in the top 5 with a score of 1808.
