Lindenwood and Wichita State Win 2012 Blue & Gold Classic

Lindenwood University took home the men’s’ title in the 2012 Blue and Gold Classic with a 9 game total score of 10,005 (1111 Average, 222/man). Lindenwood edged out Saginaw Valley State University by 4 pins, as SVSU finished with a score of 10,001. Rounding out the top 5 included Robert Morris University, Morehead State University, and Wichita State University.

Lindenwood was led by Brad Miller, who finished 4th individually, posting a 9-game score of 2110. The tournament was led by Aaron Lorincz of SVSU with a 9-game total of 2146 (238.4 Average). Rounding out the top 5 were Marshall Kent of RMU (2nd, 2142), Jacob Kent of RMU (3rd, 2133), and Morehead State’s Mike Conn (5th, 2089).

Wichita State University led the women with a 9-game score of 9098 (1010/game, 202/bowler). They edged out Robert Morris University by 1 pin. Lindenwood finished in 3rd, with William Penn University and Florida State University in 4th and 5th.

Wichita State was led by Jazreel Tan (2nd, 1987). Katie Sexton from Robert Morris led all of the women with a 9-game total of 2030. The top 5 also included Amanda Greene from Lindenwood (3rd, 1899), Alejandra Mora from Robert Morris (4th, 1891), and Davenport University’s Reba Wilke (5th, 1856).

2010 Men’s Intercollegiate Singles Sectionals Results

College bowlers from across the country competed today for their shot at the 2010 Intercollegiate Singles National Championships. The Sectional Qualifiers were held today. The Sectionals tournaments were held at four locations across the country, with the top four bowlers from each location advancing to the National Finals in Euless, Texas on May 16-19, 2010.

The Chattanooga, Tennessee qualifier was led by EJ Parks from Lindenwood University with a score of 1344 (+144, 224 Average).  Joel Klaas from Purdue University finished in second with 1337.  Other qualifiers included Joe Steiner (1323) from Saginaw Valley State University and Logan Mills (1306) from the University of Michigan.

Ryan Wyandt from Penn State University – Berks was the high qualifier from the Allentown, Pennsylvania sectional with a score of 1343 (+143, 223.83 Average).  Second highest qualifier was Kyle Keegan from Rochester Institute of Technology with 1307.  Other qualifiers included Jacob Kent (1296) from Eerie Community College and David Gerhart (1283) from RIT.

The Peoria, Illinois qualifier was led by John Szczerbinski from Wichita State University with a score of 1372 (+172, 228.67 Average).  Stephen Conn from Bellarmine University was second with a score of 1358.  Other qualifiers included Sean Rangel (1302) from William Penn University and Justin Thompson (1300) from the University of Kansas.

The qualifier out in Las Vegas was led by Michael Snell from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln with 1307 (+107, 217.83 Average).  Chris Bardol from Robert Morris University finished in second with a score of 1281.  Other qualifiers include Brandon Allred (1268) from the University of Nevada – Las Vegas and Casey Albert (1259) from UC Davis.

These bowlers advance to the Intercollegiate Singles Championships on May 16-19 in Euless, Texas.

AHIBC Tournament #3 Results

Wright State University finished off a great weekend by winning both the men’s and women’s titles in American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference Tournament #3.

The Wright State men finished with a score of 8634 to beat second place Davenport University by over 600 pins.  Saginaw Valley State University finished the tournament in third.  Wright State’s Jay Foote (1090) and Curtiss Rasnic, Jr. (1071) led the tournament.  Other members of the All-Tournament team included Bellarmin University’s Mike Conn (1064), Wright State’s Justin Marcinko (1049), and Youngstown State University’s Chuck Zarbaugh III (1034).

The Wright State women finished with a score of 7680 to win the tournament by over 400 pins.  Adrian College finished in second, with Michigan State University in third.  Wright State was led by Heidi Sanders (962) and Kristen Keenan (948).  Other All-Tournament Team members included Grand Valley State University’s Samantha Johnson (946), Bellarmin University’s Theresa Schwiermann (940), and Ohio State University’s Allyse Harrah (931).
