Jason Couch Wins PBA Mark Roth Plastic Ball Championship
The PBA Mark Roth Plastic Ball Championship took place this past week, at AMF Thruway Lanes in Cheektowaga, New York. The four TV finalists included Jason Couch, Tom Smallwood, Parker Bohn III, and Ryan Ciminelli. The first stepladder match had Parker Bohn III up against Tom Smallwood. Parker won a close match, 201-197, and advanced to face Ryan Ciminelli. In another close match, Bohn was able to win, 213-207, and advance to the final match against Jason Couch. Parker was not able to continue his success, and bowed out as Jason Couch overpowered him with a 219 game to beat Parker’s 175.
In winning the Mark Roth Plastic Ball Championship, Couch took home the $20,000 first prize and his 16th career PBA title. This title ended Couch’s 4 year drought and earns him a continuation on his exemption.

Brian LeClair Leads TQR for Plastic Ball Championship
The PBA GEICO Mark Roth Plastic Ball Championship is underway this week. This event is being bowled on a modified version of the PBA Shark pattern. This pattern is similar in length, but has a much lighter volume of oil.
The Tournament Qualifying Round of this event was bowled on Wednesday, March 24, 2010. Brian LeClair led the TQR with a score of 1685 (+285, 240.71 Average). The top ten bowlers from the TQR advance into the tournament. Others making the top five in this event included Bobby Hall II (1595), Joseph Costanzo (1588), Johny Petraglia, Jr. (1584), and Ryan Ciminelli (1573). The cut for this event (10th place) was 1542 (+142, 220.29 Average).
The round of 64 is being bowled today (Thursday), with the top 32 bowlers advancing to the round of 32 on Friday.
PBA Go RVing Match Play Championship TQR
The Tour Qualifying Round of the PBA Go RVing Match Play Championship has finished. Ryan Ciminelli led all bowlers with a score of 1586 (+186, 226.57 Average). Jesse Buss finished in second with 1564. Tony LaCaze and Matthew O’Grady tied for third at 1544. Others making the cut include Alex Aguiar (1520), Ryan Avel (1518), David O’Sullivan (1514), and Justin Warhol (1500).
These top 8 bowlers advance into the PBA Go RVing Match Play Championship. They will be matched up against the top eight seeds in the tournament. Best 4 games out of 7 match play will begin on Thursday, March 18, 2010. The full round of 64 will take place on Thursday, with the rounds of 32, 16, and 8 taking place on Friday. The semifinals will be bowled on Saturday. The finals will be bowled live on ESPN on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 1:00 PM Eastern Time. The TV finals will feature the final two bowlers bowling three games, taking total pins.
Walter Ray Wins USBC Masters
Walter Ray Williams, Jr. has won his second career USBC Masters title. Walter Ray defeated top qualifier Chris Barnes by a score of 290-217. His first Masters title also came at the hands of Chris Barnes, in 2004. Walter Ray now has eight major titles, tied with Mike Aulby and Pete Weber. Earl Anthony is the only bowler with more, which he has 10 major titles.
To start of the TV finals, Ryan Ciminelli took on Mike Scroggins. Ciminelli won the match, 246-229, and went on to take on Walter Ray Williams, Jr. Walter Ray won that match, 258-224, to go on and face Chris Barnes. In winning the Masters, Walter Ray also takes home $50,000.

Chris Barnes Earns #1 Seed for USBC Masters TV Finals
Chris Barnes went undefeated in matchplay this week to earn the #1 seed for the TV finals of the USBC Masters. Barnes defeated Walter Ray Williams, Jr. to earn the top seed. Walter Ray earned the #2 seed by winning all of his matches until facing Barnes. Ryan Ciminelli and Mike Scroggins earned the #3 and #4 seeds by winning their ways out of the losers bracket.
In the opening match of the stepladder TV finals, Ciminelli and Scroggins will face off. The winner of that match will go on to bowl against Walter Ray Williams, Jr. This winner will face Barnes in the final round.




Rhino Page Wins Viper Championship
Rhino Page and Ryan Ciminelli squared off in the finals of the PBA Viper Championship. In the semifinals, Page defeated Steve Jaros, 221-180. Ciminelli beat Michael Haugen Jr., 238-236. In the finals, Page defeated Ciminelli 268-246. This is Rhino Page’s first title of the year, and 3rd PBA title of his career.
The Viper Championship is part of the World Series of Bowling, taking place in Detroit, MI.
