Kelly Kulick Wins 2009-2010 PBA Tournament of Champions
Kelly Kulick led all bowlers with a 225.63 Average and had a 14-9-1 matchplay record to qualify 2nd in the 2009-2010 PBA Tournament of Champions. 4th place qualifier Rhino Page took on 3rd place qualifier Mika Koivuniemi in the first stepladder match. Koivuniemi won the match, 255-215. Koivuniemi went on to face Kelly Kulick in the semifinal match. Kulick won the match, 227-223, and went on to face Chris Barnes in the final match. Kelly Kulick didn’t give Barnes a chance as she won the match, 265-195.
This win gives Kelly Kulick her first PBA Tour title. She has two PBA Women’s Series titles. Kulick has become not only the first woman to win a PBA Tour major title, but also the first woman to win any PBA Tour title. Kulick had earned her PBA Tour exemption by finishing sixth in the 2006 PBA Tour Trials. By winning the PBA Tournament of Champions, Kelly Kulick has earned herself a two year exemption for the PBA Tour. Kelly is a former Collegiate All-American and three time Collegiate Player of the Year.

SVSU Wins First Tournament of the Year
2008 – 2009 national runner-up Saginaw Valley State University won American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference Tournament #1 this past weekend. Davenport University finished in 2nd for the tournament. Davenport’s Nic Sutherland led the tournament with a 229.2 average. This marks SVSU’s first win this year, in their first tournament of the 2009 – 2010 season.
Next weekend is the 39th Annual Midwest Collegiate Championships in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. AHIBC tournament #2 will take place on November 7 at Westland Bowl in Westland, Michigan.
College Bowling Kickoff

The first college tournament of the 2009 – 2010 season was this past weekend, the SWIBC Fall Singles Classic. The first team tournaments of the season start this coming weekend.
On Saturday, September 26 is the American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference Tournament #1. Last year’s men’s champion was Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU), led by tournament leader Tony Sambueno. Davenport University won on the women’s side, led by tournament leader Amy Salee.
The Sin City Open will take place on Saturday and Sunday, the 26th and 27th. The defending champion is the University of Nevada at Las Vegas (UNLV), led by Brandon Allred and Kris George, who went 1-2 to lead the tournament.
The inaugural Kentucky Collegiate Team Classic will take place on Sunday, September 27th. This event is only open to Kentucky colleges.
These tournaments get the season started, but the real kickoff will take place on October 3rd and 4th. The 39th Annual Midwest Collegiate Championships will take place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This is the first Tier I tournament of the year, and it is one that everyone looks forward to. This is the tournament where everyone brings their best and gets to see how they match up this year against everyone else. Many collegiate bowlers consider it to be one of the best tournaments of the year.
USBC Announces New Television Series on ESPN2
The United States Bowling Congress and ESPN are teaming up to bring a series of bowling events to national television in 2010. ESPN2 will air the USBC Queens, the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships, Bowling’s Clash of Champions, and the U.S. Women’s Open. These events will air in late April and May of 2010.
